As we all strive to live a stronger life, it’s about taking care of our health and our bodies through the way we exercise and what we eat – but it’s also about taking care of our emotional health – our minds, our well being, our happiness.

How do we live a stronger life?  By making all the things we feel are truly most important reality.

Whether we acknowledge it or not, we all have an abundance of blessings – big and small.  But, sometimes it’s hard to feel that way if there’s something that you really want in your life that seems so hard to attain.

What’s standing in your way?  How do you get there?

I was enlightened by a man named Isaac Lidsky who told his story on the TED stage.  Isaac Lidksy is a fellow who has accomplished a great many things (Harvard graduate — at 19, clerked for two US Supreme Court justices, successful business owner)… but things weren’t always so rosy for this man.

You see, Isaac Lidsky has a rare genetic disease that left him completely blind.  As his sight steadily deteriorated, he felt his life slipping away.  At the age of 25, he believed any hope of a fulfilled life was over.  In fact, he was convinced of it.

Despite all his gifts and talent, he envisioned a life of insignificance.  Because all he felt was FEAR.  Fear of the unknown.   Fear of a world he couldn’t see.  Fear of what others would think of him, fear of how others would treat him.  And that fear was so deeply engrained in how he felt, it created his reality.

The way you feel can literally change what you see.

Did you know that a hill appears steeper if you’ve just exercised?  And a landmark appears farther away if you’re wearing a heavy backpack?

The way you feel can literally change what you see. We create our own reality.  And we believe it.

It wasn’t until Lidsky confronted his fear that he changed his life. He said it’s a learned practice and anyone can do it:

“Hold yourself accountable for every moment, every thought, every detail. See beyond your fears.”

Recognize your assumptions. Harness your internal strength. Silence your internal critic.

Correct your misconceptions about luck and about success.  Accept your strengths and your weaknesses, and understand the difference.  And open your hearts to your bountiful blessings by letting go of excuses, assumptions and fears, and accepting the awesome responsibility that we are the creators of our own reality.

So what about you?  Is there a belief that you have made your reality that is standing in the way of you living a stronger life?

Those obstacles that are standing between this moments and where you want to be – are they real or have they been born out fear of failure?  Fear of rejection?  Fear of loss?

The way you feel can literally change what you see.
