One Turkey Burger to Rule Them All

shutterstock_106513187Nothing beats a burger fix at your favorite grill joint.

But what if I told you, you can have a delicious burger that will settle your craving without the added cholesterol and fat of red meat?

Turkey burgers get a bad rep from our fellow carnivorous humans. But let’s be honest, not only is turkey a healthier source of protein, it is a versatile, leaner meat that can be made into anything.

Burgers, sausages, bacon, and much much more are now being made out of turkey as a healthy alternative. And while you  may ‘poo-poo’ the bird, turkey is a delicious protein. If you know how to spice it up and use it, you could make one of the best burgers you’ve ever had!

Here is a solid turkey burger recipe that will have you reaching for seconds after inhaling the first.

3 pounds ground turkey
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely diced onion
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 clove garlic, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Bacon – 1-2 strips per burger

Sesame Seed Buns
Sliced Tomatoes
Baby Spinach
Honey Mustard
Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese

(technically you can add whatever you want!)

In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, seasoned bread crumbs, onion, egg whites, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Form into 12 patties.

Cook the patties in a medium skillet over medium heat, turning once, to an internal temperature of 180 degrees F.

Let the patties cool, and then place one on its whole wheat bun. Top the burger with fresh baby spinach, sliced tomato, a thick slice of buffalo mozzarella, and finish with a drizzle of honey mustard. Feel free to add any other condiments you may like! We suggest a few dill pickles or sautéed mushrooms.

Fry up your bacon to your desired crispiness and add that to your burger as well (you can thank us later).

No matter what else you, just know that this is about to be the best turkey burger you ever thought about having.
