New Koko Cardio Workouts for the Fall Coming Soon!

Your favorite NFL teams are on the field. Kids are heading back to school. You know what that means at Koko FitClub? It’s time for new Fall Cardio Programs!

This Fall’s theme is “Take the Koko Challenge.”

Whether you are exercising on the elliptical or treadmill, there are plenty of new interval training cardio challenges this season  including hiking adventures, speed walking, Boot Camp, Tabata and Stadium Stairs workouts inspired by my days of running private clients up and down the stairs at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, MA.

The hiking adventures are a blast this time around. Inspired by your suggestions, some were even recorded on location, including  Bear Creek Trail, a hike I took while visiting Koko FitClubs near Keller, Texas. A Koko owner from Arizona recently hiked the famous Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon so we’ve included that, too. These are fun and challenging across both moderate and high intensity.

There are some great workouts to try, but I believe the true cardio challenge for Koko FitClub members this season will be the Traditional Tabata (moderate-intensity) and the Double Tabata. (Do I even have to mention that its high-intensity?) If you can handle that fitness challenge, then I want you to try Boot Camp and Wind Sprint sessions on the elliptical. That’ll get your heart rate up!

The new Fall Cardio programs will be available in clubs next Wednesday, August 29th. Enjoy and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on taking the Koko Challenge!

Summer Cardio Workouts in Koko FitClubs Now

Climb the Columbia Tower at Koko FitClubExercise may not have been in your Memorial Day plans. (It’s okay to admit that!) But, you may want to change your workout plans, now that the latest and greatest Koko FitClub Summer Seasonal Cardio Programs have arrived.

This time around I’ve designed 13 treadmill and 13 elliptical programs just for you. It’s a summer road trip theme: Across-the-Country Adventures. We hit our old favorite  - the Blue Hills – in  Skyline Trail 1 and 2, but I’ve tossed in new fitness locales including Boston’s Beacon Hill, New Hampshire’s Franconia Notch, the University of Connecticut Stadium and (thanks to a great member suggestion on facebook) Washington State’s Columbia Tower.

Let me know what you think. Send me feedback on the current programs and ideas for new destination programs. You never know, maybe your idea will be featured for Fall cardio!

For 24 hours during the weekend of March 24-25, 2012, Koko FitClub members will link arms virtually with their fellow “KokoNuts” across 27 states to raise money for cancer research.

The first ever Koko FitClub “5 Million Point Challenge” will capitalize on the ability of the innovative fitness club’s patented Smartraining™ technology to do something no other health club can do: collect and compile all the exercise activity data of its members nationwide and translate it into “Koko Points” to be tallied toward a unique fundraising goal. Every time a member comes to Koko FitClub they earn Koko Points for their workouts based on their effort and performance. During this 24-hour period, members will be challenged to earn and contribute the Koko Points from their “Koko Cardio” workout sessions to raise money and awareness for cancer research and treatment. If Koko members nationwide can collectively reach the 5 million point total in 24 hours, Koko will donate $20,000 to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

“It’s a great way to turn our members’ efforts directly into a financial contribution to battle against a disease that touches too many of us,” said Koko co-founder Mike Lannon. “I am always energized to see the amazing results individual members achieve with Koko and how it can truly change their lives. This challenge will rally Koko Nation together as a whole to achieve a goal that helps improve the lives of others.”

“Many of our members support local charity walks and runs this time of year, and we see our 5 Million Point Challenge as a great way to kick off their efforts right here at Koko. It’s a great motivator and a great cause.”

Koko FitClub bills itself as the “world’s first automated personal training studio.” Their one-of-a-kind patented technology creates precisely customized strength and cardio workouts for members based on their personal goals and fitness ability.

Through this technology, called the Koko Smartraining System, Koko is able to provide each member with high-efficiency workouts that eliminate wasted time and boredom while achieving lasting, quantifiable results. In fact, Koko workouts deliver twice the results in half the time as a traditional “gym” workout, and each workout changes daily based on members’ individual goals and progress.

Plus, Koko’s technology enables members to digitally track their workout performance and monitor their progress online. For each 15-minute Koko Cardio session or 30-minute strength session completed, members earn Koko Points, a score that helps to quantify their progress over time. These Koko Points will be the tallied for the 5 Million Point Challenge .

The Koko FitClub 5 Million Point Challenge takes place from 6am Saturday, March 24, 2012 to 6am Sunday, March 25, 2012. To participate, members simply sign up for and complete at least one 15-minute Koko Cardio session during the challenge times.

The New 2012 Winter Koko “Cah”dio Series is Here!

Season’s Greetings, Koko Nation!

Hard to believe we have completed a full year of seasonal Koko Cardio programs! I have appreciated your excellent feedback throughout  2011.You’ve helped me make improvements with each new  release.

Speaking of new releases,  I think you are going to love the Koko Cardio Winter 2012 series. It has a theme: outdoor adventure challenges inspired by real winter experiences. I’m really excited about these! Here’s a preview to get you fired up:

Elliptical

Blue Hills Snow Shoe – Imagine we strap on our snow shoes and hit the snowy woods in one of my favorite hiking spots outside of Boston – not far from Koko headquarters.

Cross Country Course 3 – An outdoor adventure awaits! Based on feedback, cross country ski workouts are some of your favorites. This program is great for glutes.

Advanced Cross Country – A great compliment to our Snow Sports seasonal strength program! This full body challenge will prepare you for any type of skiing this winter.

Treadmill

Five-Stage Mt. Climber 2 – Imagine yourself on a snow-capped mountain range as you work your way along peaks and valleys in this fun mountain climb.

Koko Crater Head Trail - Trade in the snow for the Hawaiian tropics! The Koko Crater Head Trail starts with a gradual upward slope, across a rickety old bridge to a steep ascent up the final leg to beautiful Botanical Gardens. To finish, we’ll head back down to the Shack in Hawaii Kai. Aloha!

Santa Monica Stairs – Again, more sun than snow, this aggressive stair climb is the same workout that Koko trainers Rob Parr and Kathy Kaehler  have actually done with their celebrity clientele. Climb two sets of stairs near Santa Monica Beach, 300 and 180 steps, respectively. Work out like a celeb!

Have fun with these and as always, let me know what you think.

Here’s to your health and good cheer this holiday season!
